BURY CASTLE

BURY CASTLE

The building started as a 14th century moated house but the foundations that remain are of a medieval moated manor house fortified by a licence to crenellate in 1469. Within a few years it was demolished as the owner Sir Thomas Pilkington fell out with the king and there are now no visible remains above ground.
