A flat topped motte about 15 feet in height and 45 feet across situated on a hill with commanding views towards Cader Idris and the Mawddach estuary. On the top of the mound is a building of castellated style which was erected in the 18th century as a summer house but which is now a neglected ruin. It was built in 1116 by Uchdryd ap Edwin but after rebelling against his fellow Welsh lords the castle was burnt down the same year.
