An early 14th century peel tower on Roman foundations that was converted into a stately home in the 19th century. The site has remained in the same family's hands since 1208.

Open April to October. Within the 70 acre gardens of Muncaster Castle is The World Owl Centre, the headquarters of the World Owl Trust.
