There is a rectangular enclosure oval, measuring 250 feet by 90 feet that occupies the summit of a small hill next to St Etheldreda's Church. At the north-western corner is a mutilated motte, 75 feet by 80 feet in size, with the footings of a stone structure on its summit. There are also traces of buildings that used to stand in the bailey. The castle is first mentioned in the early 13th Century.
