The motte remains up to 20 feet in height and is 35 feet in diameter at the top and skirted by a bank and ditch on the north side with an 160 by 130 feet oval bailey on its south east side. It is defended on the north by the deep ravine of Cwm Byddog and commands extensive views of the Wye valley to the east, south and west.
