MACKWORTH CASTLE

MACKWORTH CASTLE

Only a Tudor Gatehouse now remains. The castle is thought to date from the 15th century, and may have been destroyed in the Civil War. It may have been more of a house than a castle, with the large gatehouse added to impress the local population.
