The ring work at Pennington Castle Hill is situated on a hill over looking Lindall in Furness. The site is severely damaged on the north side where the escarpment drops away. The remains consist of a rampart covering an area of 150 by 130 feet with a very slight outer ditch only visible in small sections. It is thought this site was the precursor to Muncaster Castle, but it continued to be in use until the early 14th century.
